IOA Meeting 2022

It was a busy weekend for our Sales Team who exhibited at the annual Irish Orthopaedic Association Meeting on June 17th and 18th. The team showcased a wide range of our offering and offered some hands-on experience with Mako SmartRobotics.

Our Joint Replacement team exhibited Stryker’s latest addition to their Hip portfolio – Trident II Acetabular System. Trident II Tritanium Shells are a true hemispherical shape and are designed using Stryker’s additive manufacturing technology which builds the shell using laser rapid manufacturing. Shells are available in 2mm increments ranging from 42mm– 66mm in a solid back and cluster hole configuration. Multi-hole shells are available in 2mm increments ranging from 42mm-72mm. The Trident II Acetabular System uses the Trident Locking Mechanism and is compatible with Trident X3 & Crossfire polyethylene liners, MDM, & Constrained inserts.

Another introduction to our portfolio is the TORS Cement Removal System. Tors is the newest ultrasonic system for bone cement removal. The use of innovative, patented technologies enables a significantly more effective, gentler and safer bone cement removal than comparable systems on the market. The newly designed probes increase the effectiveness of cement removal, and thus reduces operating theatre working time.

Our Spine Team demoed FIREFLY Technology, and the FIREFLY Pedicle Screw Navigation Guide, which is intended to assist in the accurate placement of pedicle screws. It consists of single-use components designed for treatment of a specific patient.

This year’s IOA Meeting was an opportunity for Tekno Surgical to exhibit an Upper Limb portfolio for the first time. Stryker completed the acquisition of Wright Medical in late 2020, allowing Tekno Surgical to distribute the Wright Medical portfolio in Ireland. Wright Medical is a recognised leader in the upper extremities (shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand), lower extremities (foot and ankle) and biologics market segments, which are among the fastest growing segments in Orthopaedics. From the upper extremities portfolio, our team focused on Aequalis Perform Humeral Stem System and Blueprint Software Planning from the shoulder offering, as well as Latitude Total Elbow Arthroplasty.

Our AxSOS 3 Titanium plates featured from a Trauma perspective, as well as some of our newest foot and ankle products from the Stryker Wright Medical offering. Infinity Total Ankle Replacement was a key focus for our Trauma team, which consists of a highly polished metal talar dome, a titanium alloy tibial tray, and an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene insert (UHMWPE).

The InSpace biodegradable implantable balloon, Iconix Speed Self punching all suture anchor, Air 2 all-inside meniscal repair system, and Omega Knotless Anchor System featured from our Sport Medicine portfolio. The Omega Knotless Anchor System features a decoupled eyelet and screw construct which offers intraoperative and key advantages. The eyelet is independent of the screw and has a proprietary design to reposition during suture tensioning and customize its final position based on bone density. The decoupled eyelet also allows for an intraoperative change in screw size, or sizing up, without the removal of the eyelet or rethreading of the sutures.

From our Orthobiologics portfolio, we showcased STIMULAN, the perfect partner for your infection management strategy. STIMULAN is a truly absorbable calcium sulfate antibiotic carrier – specifically designed to support the proactive management of dead space and surgical site infection with unrivaled flexibility and the broadest surgical application.

Our Mako Team had a successful day carrying out 10 Mako SmartRobotics demos with a number of Orthopaedic Consultants and Senior Registrars. The demos allowed the surgeons to have a hands-on experience with the robot, allowing them to gain an insight into the functionality of Mako SmartRobotics three key components – 3D CT-based planning, AccuStop™ haptic technology, and insightful data analytics.

Special thanks to all the team who attended and represented their portfolios. If you’d like to know more about our offering, contact us here: https://www.tekno-surgical.com/contact-us
