A Landmark Achievement: 500 MAKO Knee cases at Beacon Hospital

In partnership with Beacon Hospital, Tekno Surgical is proud to support excellence in joint replacement surgery, advancing the performance of Total Knee procedures with the Triathlon Total Knee System and RESTORIS Partial Knee.

Recently, we celebrated a significant milestone — the 500th Mako knee case performed at Beacon Hospital. This achievement represents not only a numerical landmark but also the strength of a highly collaborative clinical pathway built around precision and patient-centred care. This reflects the dedication of the entire orthopaedic team and their shared commitment to delivering consistently high standards of surgical excellence.

At the core of this success is the Stryker Mako Robotic Surgery System, an advanced robotic technology that enables personalised surgical planning based on each patient’s CT scan. The system supports surgeons with real-time data and precision guidance throughout the procedure, allowing for enhanced accuracy in implant positioning and alignment. By combining surgeon expertise with robotic-arm assistance, Mako technology aims to optimise outcomes, improve consistency, and support a more tailored surgical approach for every patient.

We are delighted to work alongside Prof. Khalid Mirghani, Mr. Joseph M Kelly and Mr. Brendan O'Daly in helping to drive new standards of care within the hospital’s state-of-the-art facility.

This milestone also highlights the importance of strong industry–clinical partnerships. Tekno Surgical remains committed to providing comprehensive MAKO product education and on-the-ground support to ensure seamless implementation and sustained success.

We would like to extend special thanks to Tekno Surgical team members Malcolm O'Kelly and Andrea Della-Chiesa for their unwavering support and technical expertise. Their on-site commitment remains central to the ongoing success of the Mako cases at Beacon Hospital.

Congratulations to Beacon Hospital and to everyone involved in reaching this remarkable milestone. We look forward to continuing this journey together, advancing innovation in orthopaedics and delivering outstanding outcomes for patients.
